XSharp Bandol 2.0 GA released

We are very proud to announce that we have released XSharp Bandol 2.0 GA to our FOX subscribers today.

This new release concludes the beta period of the XSharp Runtime. This runtime consists of a library of runtime functions, an RDD system and a macro compiler. We have also migrated the Visual Objects SDK libraries to XSharp and recompiled them to work with the XSharp runtime.

With this new release of XSharp you can now migrate Visual Objects applications to .Net without the need for any other products.
Your Visual Objects applications should migrate with minimal changes.

One important difference compared with Visual Objects is that we have now also added an RDD that suppors the Visual FoxPro file format (DBFVFP). You should be able to read and update Visual FoxPro files with this release if you switch to the DBFVFP driver. Support for VFP Database Containers will be added later.

Later this week we'll also release new versions of ReportPro 2 and ReportPro 3 that are also compiled against the X# runtime.
And we've heard <g> that a new release of Vo2Ado for X# (Xs2Ado) will also be available later this week.

A public installer for this build is expected next week.

For the coming months we plan to work on:

  • Enhanced support for the Visual FoxPro dialect
  • Enhancements that allow you to bind a DBF workarea to a Grid and other bindable .Net components
  • VO compatible GUI and SQL classes based on Windows Forms and Ado.Net that will also run in 'anycpu' and will support Unicode
  • Support for .Net Core in the project system
  • and more.

We also plan to open up our Github repository with the Compiler source code (which is now private) to the general public.

Stay tuned !

  • Now tried 3 times to get it, sitting on a rather slow line (300kB/s), - each time short before completion the download fails...

    Any suggestion?

This does happen sometimes indeed. What browser are you using? Can't you just ask it to continue downloading after it stops, instead of restarting it? Works for me in firefox.
  • X# Team,

Do not overachieve. I envy you guys.

See you soon. I am also releasing our greatest apps to the masses (our users), also this week. All in VO. Without X#, I might not have the confidence to continue on VO. I know the X# can pull it off.

Now, setting my sight on complete migration to X#.

Btw, bBrowser? Is there any news of it getting a full X# migration also?

Meanwhile tried with edge - and succeeded, hurray.

Got no source. I think I only have bBbrowser for .NET, non-source edition.

I will upgrade to full source edition.

    Got this here: http://www.bbrowser.de/english/shop/onlineorder.htm
  • Then you have only the VO version. According to the shop there is no .NET (Vulcan/X#) version without sources.

I have no idea but I do have bBrowser for Vulcan.NET, and actually looking at it on my laptop D:\Program Files (x86)\bBrowser.NET 4 (Vulcan Edition)

Maybe, I have source, just did not bother looking at it .
