Cookie consent

Post by ic2 »

I noticed the current version of the X# website now shows a banner where I have only one choice: I accept cookies.

This is most likely something which you even can't influence but I think this is not allowed:

https://europa.eu/youreurope/business/d ... dex_en.htm

It should be like on this site where it also shows a button Accept only essential cookies.

BTW: I always have cookies cleared when I close Firefox. Does anyone know a way/program to keep (or re-set) cookies for selected sites? So that sites I know do not show cookie banners anymore and always have cookies to whatever I have chosen once (including to be kept logged in) but all other sites do.

I am surprised that nobody reacted on this. Did anyone care to read the privacy policy? It says for example:

We use cookies and similar tracking technology (collectively, Cookies), to collect and use personal information about you, including to serve interest-based advertising. For further information about the types of Cookies we use, why, and how you can control Cookies, please see our Cookie Notice.

So which interest based advertising is X# serving when I login and can not avoid, unless I keep a big purple bar open on the bottom of the screen?

According to this same policy: You have the right to know what personal data we process about you and may request a copy.

I would like to receive that, and if it's common to all users, I like to read this here.

Dick,
We collect nothing special afaik.
The cookies that we store are only to persist your login state between sessions.
This new blue cookie message bar was part of a recent upgrade from our website template.
I have disabled it for now.

Hello Robert,

Thanks for explaining (I already couldn't imagine that X# would harvest cookies) and even more for disabling the bar!
