SAP won't sell new licenses, and are telling us its end of life for ADS. ChatGPT says the same thing. They did say they would supply a code to allow usage as we have been a reseller for many years.

ADS is such a flexible and simple way to go, supports ISAM and SQL-92, is schema-less or schema, and file system based so can mount and move databases any way and any where you want them. ADT or DBF. And its been rock solid for years. And it supports ROWID!

When I look at migrating to a full RDBMS I see large design changes in order to operate in their strict and owned datadir model. We have multi-tenant model at corporate and local model at sites they all talk to each other. This would be a giant lift to migrate.

Checking out SQLite too. It has made a big splash lately with machines getting so much larger. And its just very simple, and maybe would keep us developing value rather than bit-twiddling on migration.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You're right about SAP.
However, ADS as it is right now is working great.
And we (X#) can still sell licenses if you need these.

That is correct. SAP still sells ADS through loyal distributors.
