Today we have released an installer (for our FOX subscribers) for XSharp Cahors 2.20 which contains some fixes for problems reported with X# 2.19, and some new features.

Introduction

In October 2024 we are organizing our third European conference, after successful events in 2022 and 2023.

Upon request from attendees, we are moving the event now from the relatively small city Memmingen to München (Munich).
Unfortunately, that also means that the prices are somewhat higher than last year.

We will present the current state of the X# development and show how to migrate your apps to XSharp. Furthermore, we will also discuss the internals of X# and how you can extend X#.
Finally, we will discuss our future plans, such as our support for next versions of .Net and will show some work in progress.

This summit is structured to encourage open and facilitated face-to-face discussion and idea sharing amongst all attendees. Refreshments will be provided all day, with scheduled lunch and snack breaks.

We are starting the beta test for the X# SQL RDD next week.
If you're interested to participate in this beta, please email robert@xsharp.eu.
This will be a relatively short beta cycle.
There will be a special forum dedicated to the beta on this website
What we expect of beta testers:

• That you have time to test
• That you understand that beta software may have problems
• That you provide us with feedback (both positive and negative) about your experiences

The first version of the SQL RDD will come with database providers for Oracle, Microsoft SQL and MySql and also for ODBC and OleDb.
If you need another provider, then contact us. Setting up a new provider is not too complicated, but we may need some help from you.

Today we have released an installer (for our FOX subscribers) for XSharp Cahors 2.19 which contains some fixes for problems reported with X# 2.18, and some new features.

The most prominent new language feature is the new support for tuples. You can read about the tuple syntax here.
Tuples are a value type that allow you to return more than one value from a function / method.
Unlike Tuple<T1,T2> this is a value type and not a reference type.

There will be NO public build 2.19
 

We first want to wish everybody the best for this new year.

And then we would like to inform you about our progress:
We are busy finalizing build 2.19 of X#. This build will fix some issues that were reported and adds some new features.
There are new features in the compiler, VS integration and runtime.
One of the things that we have added is support for some FoxPro embedded SQL statements, such as CREATE CURSOR, CREATE TABLE, ALTER TABLE and INSERT.
Other embedded SQL commands will follow in a next build.
We expect to release 2.19 to our beta testers in week 3 and when things go as planned then we should be able to release build 2.19 in week 4.

During our presentation in Memmingen, we have also announced some other changes.
Let's summarize these here with some expected release dates

We are also planning another X# summit 2024. We have reserved accommodation in the HYPERION Hotel in München (Munich) on October 17-18. More information about this will follow in a few weeks.

Finally, we will move this website to another hosting provider later this month. We hope that this will not cause too many hickups. The website itself will not changes, only the location where it is hosted.
